Starting with the project : Introduction

Now the basic idea was conceived, it was to realise a
complete product or application which combines video as
well as user interaction to teach cinematic techniques and
it should be able to be used as a tool for self learning as
well as something which can be used for demonstration
and teaching. Now what to teach was then the question,
narrowing down on what can be taught effectively, there
were so many aspects of cinema selecting what, to be taught
considering the amount of time for project completing
and feasibility was to be done.Cinema communicated to
the audience in many different ways like sounds, lights,
editing,shot selection, camera angle etc.
Only one or two ofthere parameters were to be selected
a cosidering the amountof time for realising the final product.
Since lights can reallymake a huge differance to a particular
scene it was definelty one of the aspects to be selected the other
factor whichmade a huge impact was the camera angle so the
parameters were now narrowed down to lighting and camera angle.
Now that the the teaching parameters were finalized
selecting the most effective way of teaching these
parameters or aspects were to be decided upon. There
was to be a way by which these aspects should be made
easily demonstrated and understood by the user. The best
was to show it by comparing with or showing a visual
change between differant lighting and camera angles.
Information were also to be displayed along with the visual
demonstratio.
Summing up on the introduction, the main aspects to be taught
or demonstated were decided upon and the method of teaching
was by showing a visual change when each of these parameters
were changed and relevant information was to be displayed with
corresponding changes

Ineractive learning of cinema : Background

‘Interactive cinema ‘ is a very common term often used
without a clear understanding of it. It is often so because
a there is no clear definition to it. A lot of people believe it
is one where the is a interaction between the actor and the
audience, which is when the film offers participation of the
audience in the film, this is often when the actor talks to
the audience in the film but there is no active participation.
Another alternative perception is when the viewer ( often
a single viewer ) can make changes in the plot which
brings the movie to alternative endings.
In the second alternative there is actual interaction which
makes it like a game and the user/viewer has a role to play in the movie.
The question was placing interactivity in to create an
experience to the audience or the user which is quite different
from the above mentioned examples of interactive cinema.
Interactivity which gives an active participation to the
user was to be considered but in a way which creates
a whole new experience or serves a particular purpose.
Considering serving a particular purpose was a variety
of things like educational, entertainment, gaming, etc.
Educational sounded like quite an opportunity and since
integrating video and interactivty, give active participation
to the user would make quite an effective tool for learning,
it was to be considered or rather narrowed down upon.
